Ivory & Ice

Snow. Some love it, others hate it and me, I hate that I love it.

I was fortunate enough to spend the winter of 2011 living in North Carolina and it was then that I discovered my complete and utter love for the snow. Waking up to snow covered scenery, having snow flakes fall around you as walk outside and of course skiing. I only wish Sydney's winter mirrored that of many American and Europeans cities, oh well, I guess the snow fields will make do! Here are some photos that the ladies here at Frou Frou find inspiring, artistic and simply gorgeous, enjoy.

How To Decorate Your Home With Vintage

Ever picked up some vintage items, got home and thought 'What am I going to do this?'

Here at Frou Frou we have never had that problem. Vintage blends ever so easy into our shabby chic styled shop, mixing old with new and classic with contemporary. We thought it was time to share our tips to help style vintage in your home.

Vintage Suitcases
Storage & Main Features
They are excellent for storing off season clothes. Make a feature in your bedroom by stacking the suitcases on top of one another and display your favourite heels on them.

Coffee Table or Side Table
Vintage suitcases are flat and stable, making them perfect for using as coffee and side tables in your living room. You just stack until you achieve a height that is perfect to sit next to, or in front of your lounge.

Vintage Plates

Wall Decoration
You can find tonnes of gorgeous vintage plates at thrift stores, or you may already have some. Arrange a few together and ta-da you have an instant wall feature.

Attachment
We used Plate Wires to attach the plates to the wall. These can be found from your local hardware store.

 Vintage Books
Book Shelf
This brings a whole new meaning to the word.

Wall Art
Why not create some wall art using vintage books. You can display your favourite little knik-knaks in a unique way.

Attachment
We used two Wall Brackets from our local hardware store to attach the book to the wall. Simply drill the bracket into the wall and then into the book.

 Vintage Briefcase / Beauty Cases
Storage
A vintage briefcase or beautycase is the perfect size to store and display both headbands and, or scarves

Display
Line the bottom with tissue paper for a soft and clean base then store away. A cute way to display your favourite head bands

Vintage Tea Boxes
Display
Vintage tea boxes are the perfect size to fit your favourite rings! Display them on your dresser for a vintage chic look.

Storage
Grab a couple of boxes and your can store both your favourite rings and bracelets! The boxes look great in a set stacked horizontally and vertically.

Vintage Ladder
Display & Practical
Vintage Ladders look awesome on their own, however they are very handy coat racks. Hang your handbags, scarves, jackets and hats from the ladder.

I hope this has helped make use of your vintage items, or inspired you to go and out buy some!

Until next time,
